With so many places boasting brunch in Vancouver, it's the places you least expect that bring the greatest joy. I present thee Evelyn's. Small, unassuming, quaint, and surrounded by other equally small and charming businesses, this 80s style diner is like a warm hug, on a dreary day. It's like the Cheers of Kits, people are regulars, and the manager knows your name and order.

The fare is diner style with breakfast all day, sandwiches, burgers, and some unexpected Chinese food. My favourite is the simple, and palate pleasing Corn Beef hash with eggs over easy. Real corn beef (shaved off an actual corn beef, none of that lunch meet stuff), perfectly cooked, hand made hash browns, some veg, and topped with two eggs over easy, and a side of toast. Add some of THE BEST drip coffee I've ever drank, and a grand total of.... 9.50. Can you even? Like repeat that number!

Pay at the counter, have a seat, and before you know it, steaming deliciousness! I swear though, if you're rude to the people there, I will hunt you down. They are so lovely, and warm, and hard working, if it's busy, be respectful of the work they do to make people happy and full.

Please note, this is home style diner food, dont be expecting fancy concoctions ok? It's just good, ol fashioned, food in the belly.

Cheap and tasty breakfast!  Small cozy place, but friendly services.

This is a small cafe located near the intersection of Broadway and Arbutus. Their menu consists of all-day breakfast foods, as well as Chinese dishes. You order at the front counter and they'll bring the dishes to your table (if you're eating in that is). I had their Cafe Hash and Honey Garlic Boneless Pork (with fried rice). The food wasn't the greatest, but decent; the prices are a steal, with most dishes being under $10. Even though the service is pretty minimal, the staff are still quite friendly. I definitely recommend checking this place out for a decent and very affordable meal.

    Cafe Hash ($7.38):
    3.5/5
This consisted of potatoes, peppers, mushrooms, bacon, sausage and ham, and is served with toast and two eggs. I wasa bit disappointed that the potatoes weren't really crispy; however, the hash was still very flavourful with all the sasuage and ham. I had asked for the eggs to be over-medium, but the yolks were still quite runny (more like over-easy to me); it was fine though, I just ate them over the fried rice I also had. I also really enjoyed the toast, which was buttered.

Honey Garlic Boneless Pork with Fried Rice ($7.86):
    3.5/5
This came with your choice of either chicken or pork and fried rice or noodles; I went with the pork and rice. The pork was fairly crispy when the dish came out and not overly battered; I did find the meat to be a bit overly grisly however. It had a pretty good, slightly sweet flavour. The fried rice went well with the pork.

    Summary:
    Food: 3.5/5
    Price: 5/5
    Service N/A
    Overall: 4/5
Recommendations: Honey Garlic Boneless Pork with Fried Rice

I give this place a five star because the service is super friendly, super fast and super cheap. Food quality is ok. Not gourmet but good bang for the buck

Suuuuper affordable, family owned breakfast place! Even if you order two Benedict's, it will come out to only $16! The menu has a variety of diner breakfast items. The place has a very cozy feeling to it as you can tell that the food is house made with care! The owners are really friendly too - it feels like a classic diner with a cozy vibe for locals. The food also came out very fast (which is huge for me because fast service is something that I look for as I go here and there)! I would come back for the excellent price and fast service :).
